INNKEEPERS: Don't know what to blog about? Photoblog the area, and here's why!

These are just a few of my photos photos on Flickr that have been picked up by media. And some pretty big players at that! All I do is post photos of what I see and blog about the area. And sometimes my posts contain very few words, if any. And every one of these points right back to my name. And it's FREE ADVERTISING! The potential hits to your website could be huge. So why wouldn't you do the same?

There are certain things you'll want to be prepared for should you find the right property for you. One of them is your business plan. You can set up your own template, and for the most part, fill in the particulars when you find the right property. Every lender will require it. And you certainly don't want to delay the loan process because you're not prepared.

If you're unsure about creating your own template, a client of mine recently used I reviewed their business plan (as an authorized user) and found it simple to follow and to edit. And at a fairly low cost.

You'll want to create a clear outline that includes:
Executive Summary (who you are, what you do, what you bring to the table)
Company Overview (management, personnel, mission statement)
Strategy and Implementation (marketing strategy, your competition, and not just that you're going to increase revenue, but how you're going to do so)
Financial Plan (the most important, which should include a revenue and expense forecast for at least 3 years but 5 would be better)

So start thinking ahead so that you're not left feeling like this!

A Maine Aerial Video...

I came across this being shared on Facebook this morning and had to share it here. I've been up in a seaplane on two occasions before, once around Naples and the western lakes and mountains region and the other over Moosehead Lake. This is just beautiful and covers a lot more of Maine. Can you recognize the scenes?

Do your website images exude hospitality?

Images today should not only show the space in which a guest will enjoy while staying with you, they should also allow the guest to become fully immersed in the scene.

Do your images convey relaxation?

Do your images say "welcome"?

Do your images convey comfort? Are your rooms well lit, for ambience and function? A well lit room also says "welcome".

For more examples of images that exude hospitality, check out my Picasa photo album. I was inspired to write this post by Association of Independent Hospitality Professionals on Facebook today as they asked about pictures that illustrate hospitality. And if you haven't looked into this newly formed industry organization, you should!
